Composting in Nigeria
Project developer EarthCare Nigeria Limited will use advanced composting technology to turn municipal solid waste from a Nigerian city into high-quality manure for local farmers. Methane emissions from commonly used open landfills will thereby be avoided.
Wastewater treatment and biogas recovery at a tapioca flour mill in Thailand
Using anaerobic digesters, this tapioca mill will recover biogas from the 3,500 cubic meters of wastewater it generates each day. The biogas will replace fuel oil as the heat source in the mill. Greenhouse gas emissions will further be reduced because wastewater will no longer be treated in open lagoons.
Methane recovery and power generation in a distillery plan
In the normal course distilleries in India adopt open lagoon treatment systems for meeting the pollution control standards of BOD/COD of the Spent-Wash before its discharge. But in open lagoon system Methane, a potent GHG, is generated due to the anaerobic conditions which escape into atmosphere and there is no control or capturing involved. This project activity entails treatment of this high BOD/COD Spent-Wash anaerobically in a closed digester and capturing the Methane generated in a controlled manner. The Methane captured is combusted in a boiler for steam generation and further to generate power through a turbo-generator. The capacity of the power generation plant is ~1.0 MW.

Methane Avoidance by Municipal Solid Waste Processing in the city of Chandigarh, India
In the project activity, PP is setting up one Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing plant. The facility entails MSW processing to derive Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), which shall be used in a thermal power plant of PP. MSW for processing would be received from various collection centres in the city.
The estimated quantity of MSW currently available for processing in the RDF plant is 350 TPD and is expected to reach up to 500 TPD in coming years. The proposed processing plant has the capacity to treat 500 TPD of MSW.
