Bangkok - Thailand, 22nd October 2013: Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), Ministry of Energy, Thailand, conducted a stakeholder consultation workshop for Solar Cooling policy development in Thailand. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with the Mekong Region (EEP Mekong).
This was a part of an on-going policy study on “Policy Development to support Solar Cooling in Thailand as demonstration project in Southeast Asia”. The workshop included a wide range of stakeholders from all relevant domains including users, technology providers, international funding agencies, academia and government agencies. Dr. Twarath Sutabutr, Deputy Director General, DEDE set the stage by briefing the audience on Thailand’s renewable energy and energy efficiency potential and development plans. Following that, over 60 participants were briefed on the approach of the study, Thailand’s current situation and solar cooling potential, global best practices and potential business models for solar cooling in Thailand.
Based on the outcomes of this study, DEDE will develop a policy package to promote sustainable business models for solar cooling in Thailand. The workshop was organized by Sun Business Development Lda (SunBD) and Emergent Ventures International (EVI) as part of the policy development study.
