Mexico,6th March 2013: EVI, in association with The Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), Mexico and Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) organised a national consultation workshop on Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) for stakeholders in Mexico. This is a project sponsored by ICI (International Climate Initiative) to develop NAMAs in Latin America.
The inaugural remarks were given by Mr. Rodolfo Lacy Tamayo, Vice Minister of Planning and Environmental Policy at SEMARNAT, Mr. Rafael Pacchiano Alam, Vice Minister of Environmental Management at SEMARNAT and Jakob Graichen,Senior, Advisor, Mitigation Component at GIZ Mexico. The Workshop participants exhibited NAMA activities in Mexico and National Ozone Unit and discussed NAMAs concepts in the refrigeration, air-conditioning and foam sectors. The workshop aimed at presenting and discussing the first phase of inventory development, of consumption and emission of F-gases in Mexico. The inventory will be further used to design and implement possible mitigation strategies in the RAC and foam sector. The workshop concluded with a panel discussion and closing remarks by the dignitaries. Organizing such events help us to move a step further in realizing our vision of being a world class consulting firm by offering sustainable solutions for the environment.
